The Twentieth Century (page 1/2)

People of Doriza were not absent from the wars of their country. They were present in the Balcan Wars (1912-1913), in the war campaign in Asia Minor and in the Second World War. More specifically, they fought in the war between the Greek and the Italians in 1940 and they even entered Albania. They had great participation in the National Resistance against the forces of Axon as well as in the Civil War that followed liberation.

Their response to the call to fight for their ideals (“st’ armata, st’ armata) was such, that Doriza was given the additional place-name of “ Little Moscow”.

Some of the region most important members of the National Resistance and the Greek Liberation Army (ELAS) during the period of the German occupation were, Alexis Zaharopoulos (Gourdoulas), father’s name George, Giorgis P. Triantefillopoulos (Koulogiannis), Manolis G. Triantafillos, Tassis Talaganis, Pandelis Batitsas (Damakos), Dionissis Talaganis (captain of ELAS- Greek Liberation Army), Hristos A. Lymperopoulos (Kapelianis), Yiannis Theodoropoulos, father’s name Dimitrios.

For their resistance against the conqueror and their struggle for the priceless freedom, were imprisoned in German concentration camps the following: Antonis Bacoyiannis (Manhaim), Haralambos Talaganis, Georgios Lymperopoulos, father’s name Andreas.
